LCD Soundsystem Grand Finale

Two months ago we found out that one of our favorite bands was quitting and also that they were putting on one final show to say goodbye to their fans. This show happened to be in New York, their home town and where we luckily reside. We managed to score four floor tickets by waiting for over five hours in sub zero temp.

When we got home we realized that this was a pretty big deal because we found out that floor tickets were selling anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 each on the internet. Instead of cashing in we thought it would be a far better experience to share it with some friends,so we asked the biggest LCD fans we knew and to our surprise they said yes. They pinched their pennies and flew to New York this past weekend and we all got to share one of the coolest concerts and most fun experience in a long time.

On the night of the concert we took the subway to Manhattan and got out underneath Madison Square Garden. We made our way up through many escalators and after about ten minutes of tunnels we were inside the building. When we finally past many, many sections of people from the furthest part of the Venue to the closest area we arrived at “The Pit”. A mere 30 feet from the stage.

The rest is kind of a blur, but now when I listen to LCD Soundsystem it makes me a little bit more excited for a few minutes.

LCD Finale

Well as some of you may have heard LCD Soundsystem is retiring. We heard this sad news yesterday after dinner and learned about a final show in New York. We quickly decided to try to line up to attempt some pre sale tickets as this is one of our must see bands. So at 2AM today we woke up to an alarm clock and bundled up with many layers as the weather was a chilly -10C. We traveled to the Lower East Side which was a true test of frustration levels as the night cleaning crew destroyed any chance of making this regularly 20 minute commute in under 2 hours. At 4AM we arrived to a dead street! We decided to go for a coffee for an hour and came back at 5 where we were 4th in line and proceeded to wait for 5 hours in the blistering cold.

The show is to take place April 2 and is playing at New Yorks “MTS Centre” or Madison Square Garden. I wonder who the special guests will be…will Daft Punk be playing at their house?
